I sent you an email to that address: [email protected] explaining whats going on in Barcelona these days. With yesterday It has been 4 days of non-stop protests, and there will be more. If you dont want to report it, I apologize for wasting your time, but here there is a strong resistance movement and it would be great to spread it as much as possible. Thank you anyway for what youre doing every day. Because courage is contagious. We are taking 4 days of protest in the city against the demolition of the self-managed Social Center called Can Vies, at the Sants neighborhood, occupied by people (since 1997) who were doing social activities. The city hall decided to demolish the center some days ago, and people responded two days ago burning the excavator: (https://twitter/redskin19633/status/471401182993600512/photo/1). The protest, with more than 500 people at first (https://twitter/manelmarquez/status/471062673183240192/photo/1 and https://twitter/laiasb/status/471004711857188864/photo/1)), was extended to other neighborhoods of Barcelona and then to other cities of Catalonia. Last Thursday there were more than 7000 people protesting around Barcelona (https://flickr/photos/acampadabcnfoto/14273982006/in/set-72157644487031867) and now there’s a strong support around Spain, organizing many demonstrations (https://twitter/Coordinadora25S/status/471794741248815104/photo/1). The response of the city hall has been really aggressive: among 20- 30 vans of the riot police every day, and 2 helicopters the second day (https://twitter/manelmarquez/status/471760747845140480/photo/1 and https://twitter/AsociacionDRY/status/471406275038031872/photo/1) and last Thursday they almost run over peaceful protesters with their vans. 30 people arrested officially, at the moment, and many have been injured and identified with no reason. There will be more demonstrations supporting Can Vies around the country, and specially in Barcelona. Because Can Vies is a symbol of people’s resistance, and the establishment wants to take it away and to give it to the TMB business, like with everything; that’s the reason of our angry voices. The city hall started to demolish it, but they have stopped thanks to the pressure.
