Sent in by one of our newest members who refuses to shop at his local Freshco on the corner of Dundas and Erindale in Mississauga, ON. He was shocked to find out that the ENTIRE meat area is only halal aka slaughtered according to islamic traditions. A cashier at this Freshco confirmed that the entire deli was halal and he had no non halal options. He gladly put his groceries back and walked out of the store. There is nothing wrong with providing halal choices to the market place but removing non halal offerings for non muslims even though non muslims are the majority in the area is just plain wrong! They are forced to buy islamically slaughtered beef.Note the verses from the Quran framed on the wall behind the butchers (the 3 frames with red text) yet a politically correct Seasons Greetings sign hangs out front. What this also means is that this deli practices hiring discrimination since only muslims can slaughter an animal in a halal fashion, non muslims may not apply. Is this Canada anymore? Seems like accommodation is a one way street!
