Sent in the Name of the Lord ...a great multitude...heard that - TopicsExpress

Sent in the Name of the Lord ...a great multitude...heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, and cried out: “Hosanna! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ The King of Israel!” John 12:12-13. There are many Scriptures that had prophesied of Jesus coming, and one such is Psalm 118:26, which the Jews quoted when they saw Jesus enter Jerusalem, saying, Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! He who comes in the name of the Lord refers to One whos sent by God, to accomplish His purpose, and was acting as His representative on earth. It means that Jesus, while on earth, was fully taking the place of God, doing and saying all that God would do and say, living out Gods will. This is why Jesus said on many occasions that all He did and said He heard from the Father, and seen Him do, and that His food was to do the Fathers will (Jn. 4:34, 5:19, 6:38, 7:16, 28, 8:26). Jesus said that as He was sent by the Father, He sent us (Jn. 17:18). So today, we are the ones who come in the name of the Lord, having been sent by Him to continue His work and accomplish His will and purpose. Were His representatives and ambassadors to the world. Just as our ambassador to a foreign country is not there on his own accord, and will be treated by that country as they would treat our very own president, you represent the kingdom of heaven and have been given the authority and power to carry out kingdom business just as Jesus would. When you do, Jesus gets to work through you. So when we pray in the name of Jesus, it is not a stamp we include in our letters to heaven to ensure they reach there, but it speaks of us and who we represent, while here on earth. If an ambassador to a foreign country transacts any business while in that country, he doesnt do so as an individual, but as one bearing the interests of his home country, and that of the one who sent him, his president. So when you pray in the name of Jesus, youre aligning your interests to His, and asking just as if it were Him asking. When heaven hears your prayers and see you, they hear and see Jesus in your place, as you have been sent in His name, on earth. The challenge now is to live out as ones sent in the name of the Lord, aligning our interests, will, desires, goals, dreams and so on, to His. For this to happen, we have to come to an end of ourselves and realize that as long as we are not living as ones sent in the name of Jesus, we are rejecting our purpose and denying our calling. Living as ones sent in the name of the Lord is not an option for believers; it is a requirement, a privilege and a command. We will be held responsible one day, when we stand before the judgment seat of Christ, to account for what we did with what He gave us. We can avoid regrets by purposing today to start dying to self, and living to and for Him. Whenever you pray, talk, act or make any decision, ensure it aligns to the will of God. The more you spend time in the Word and in prayer, the more you will learn of His will and desires, and align your desires and will to His. Its not a one-time event, but a daily process, of presenting our bodies as living sacrifices to Him, renewing our minds to His Word, and refraining from being conformed to the patterns of this world (Rom. 12:1-2), of daily working out our salvation (Phil. 2:12-13). Are you living as one sent in the name of the Lord? Can heaven and the world attest to this? Know who you are, and honour your calling. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ... 2 Corinthians 5:18-20a. Blessings.
