Sent our story in to Waiting to Live Film - a documentary film chronicling those that have been a transplant recipient, donor or family member of both. I have been battling Alports Disease my entire life. By the age of 16, I was in full renal failure and began dialysis. After 6 months of treatment, I was blessed with a kidney transplant from my mom, Ines, as we were a perfect match. I like to say that my mom gave me life twice; at birth and when she gave me the precious gift of organ donation. Her amazing gift lasted me 11 years and I have now been waiting 4 years for a new kidney. I cant explain my gratitude and the feeling of receiving a transplant. My moms unconditional love changed my life.
