Sent this to Mayor Emanuel of Chicago: Dear Mayor Emanuel: Please consider the following in response to the crime problem as it relates to gang violence in Chicago: 1) Set up police sub-stations right in the crime ridden areas. Man them. 2) Enlist the population as they do in Phoenix, Arizona. Enlist, screen, train, and deploy citizens working under and with the police to augment presence on the ground. This writer studied what they have done in Phoenix. Chicago should do likewise. It works. 3) Solicit corporations and sponsors to bring training to inner city to put youth to work with viable training and jobs. 4) Provide tax incentives to corporations to set up shop in inner city communities. 5)Set up scholarships as incentives for youth. 6) Grant amnesties to youth who will engage positively with the community. 7) Set up a study program to learn what they do in the Maori communities in Australia on how they engage youth and criminal behaviors. This is being done in Baltimore and is having a positive impact. 8) Stay positive. Stay strong. 9) Repeat the above until it works. This writer has confidence that if Chicago implements the right programs the crime problem can be curbed and brought under control. Thank you and good luck.
