Sept. 28 E-news from the Pews: Hi everyone, Today is shaping up to be a great day for the annual BBQ salmon supper. May God bless all the hands serving tonight as well as our guests during our time of dining and fellowship. Tomorrow is our annual Memorial Service Sunday. During service we will have an act of remembrance in which we will remember those who are interred at the St. James Cemetery. Last week at church, we distributed some preliminary information concerning our upcoming Elder Elections. I am attaching this document for your info in case you didn’t receive a copy. For your information as well, here are the names of those individuals presently serving on Session: Wina Parent (Clerk of Session); Iain Flint; Lorna Pollock; Tom Henderson; Wendy Densmore; Richard Densmore; Bob Scott; and Joey Schotanus. Last week, I took a different approach to the prayers of the people and provided an opportunity for people to share prayer requests for themselves or others in need. As Christians we are called to pray for one another. I know prayer is very important to many within the congregation and I thought space should be made to give opportunity for people to share their concerns so that we may continue to look out for one another in a more prayerful way. I will continue to invite people to share their prayer requests before the prayers of the people, but for those who would like to share prayer requests in a written form, an orange-colored prayer basket will be placed outside in the narthex with paper beside it for prayer requests. Simply jot your prayer request down and I’ll look at it during the offering so that I can be sure to include it during prayers of the people. May God’s grace be with you today! In Christ, Rev. Together we are supporting new church developments and equipping congregations across Canada. We are supporting and encouraging theological students and new ministers. We are advocating for justice and human rights. We are helping refugees find compassion and support through Action Réfugiés Montréal. We are helping translate the Bible into indigenous languages in Taiwan.
