Sept.29 ZAZEN(Sitting Meditation) experience in English for foreigners  ZAZEN(Sitting Meditation) session in English will be held at Kenchoji Temple for foreigners . Kenchoji Temple is the first-ranked of Zen temples, and is the oldest Zen training monastery. KSGG (Kanagawa Systematized Goodwill Guide Club) will voluntarily escort to the temple and guide them around the grounds. In Zen Buddhism, zazen (literally seated meditation) is a meditative discipline practitioners perform to calm the body and the mind, and be able to concentrate enough to experience insight into the nature of existence and thereby gain enlightenment.  KSGG is a non-profit voluntary organization. The members hope that international exchanges and mutual understanding will be promoted. We will introduce Japanese cultures event, such as tea ceremony, flower arrangement etc. Itinerary: 12:30 Gather at JR KITA-KAMAKURAstation. We will wait for you at both EXITS (Lunch should be done beforehand) 12:40 Walk to KENCHOJI-Temple for about 10 minutes. 13:00 Arrive at KENCHOJI-Temple. Check in 13:30 ZAZEN session starts. Orientation; Priest describes history and manner of ZAZEN. All the explanations in English and easy Japanese. There will be Three ZAZEN sessions (10min~20min each) Visitors who had received the Okyou(Sutra) written in the Roman alphabet. Chanted the Okyou(Sutra) together. 15:00 ZAZEN session end. 15:10 Tea time (Temple will serve Japanese traditional green powdered tea). Talk to priest (Questions and Answers). 15:30/16:00 Tea time end. 16:00 Walk around the grounds of Kenchoji Temple led by a KSGG members. 17:00 We will escort you back to JR Kita-Kamakura Station. Please wear modest and comfortable clothing (pants are preferred over skirts).
