September 1, 2013 Dear Friends, The Yokefellow luncheons are a very loose-knit organization of Christians who meet Thursday noon, September through May. There is no membership. There are no dues. We rely on the goodwill of Friends Fellowship Community to provide a very inexpensive hot lunch for which we pay $6. (You can also “brown bag” it.) We rely on First Friends Meeting, next door to Friends Fellowship, to provide a very nice meeting place without charge. Those are two of their ministries. Originally this was an all male organization, but so were Kiwanis, Lions, Rotary, etc. Today we are reaching out to ladies who we believe would enjoy our programs and fellowship as much as men do. A few ladies have joined us in the past, but we are hoping that more will in the future. Our meetings begin promptly at noon and end promptly at 1 PM. The speaker normally has 30-35 minutes, including time for questions. The rest of the time we have fellowship around the tables. Dr. Trueblood used to say that “we all have a ministry.” For some it is pastoral ministry, for most of us it is secular, although our religious convictions may help us decide what that ministry may be. Our speakers will each describe their ministries. Here is the schedule for the first 3 months up to Thanksgiving: September 12, Wendy Canon, Crossroads Treatment Center for Women September 19, Mike Lopresti, recently retired sports reporter for USA Today September 26, Whitney Mays, Hope House October 3, Jevan Frame, Alzheimer’s Care at Golden Rule October 10, Kim Weber MD, Acupuncture and modern medicine October 17, Larry Snyder, Gideon work and prison ministry October 24, Ron Chappell, pastor New Life Church of the Nazarene October 31, Howard Lamson, Amigos November 7, Jack Doyle, Circle U Help Center November 14, Stan Van Ausdal, Eaton Church of the Brethren November 21, Christ Retz who makes frequent trips to Israel and Palestine Whether you have been a regular in attendance at Yokefellow before or have never attended, we hope you will give us a try. The programs will be enlightening. We believe you will receive a blessing by joining us. You don’t have to come every week—come when you can. Bring a Christian friend. In His service, Ed Peterson, Ron Chappell, Phil Monger
