September 11, 2014 has been a great day. Finished a small porch and walkway project yesterday for an excellent client and took my pups downtown today to haul my tools and pick up their perennial supply of sustenance from Pet Zoo. My life philosophy for the last 20 odd years has been: follow your passion - not a paycheck. It takes a lot of courage mixed with hard-earned life experience and doesnt always end up successful. The first twenty I subserviated myself to the USAF military system yet followed the same philosophy even then - to serve people and help those around you in the best way I could. I got lucky and this resulted in both for me. Figuring now, Jesuss words mayve been right. When you serve instead of using people, you reap rewards you never could have imagined. Appreciative that Ive been able to learn this, not so much feeling blessed. I consider myself thinking-blue collar. Not much formal education beyond highschool yet endlessly curious and skeptical of claims that lack evidence to the day that I die. This is the mindset I wish for my fellow conservative-thinking bretheren. It works. It worked for our entire nation until around 30 years ago. Free enterprise doesnt have to mean stealing from good, hardworking people to make yourself wealthy, nor does playing victim to a society that believes in Macys and driving the latest model is the bomb. And, the love Ive seen in my pups eyes tells me everything I want to know about God.
