September 11 is the day of Mourning and Remembrance Do you remember a world when September 11th was just another day? Its hard to believe, but this year marks the 13th anniversary. Its been 13 years since 9/11, 13 years since terrorists hijacked several airplanes, flying two in the World Trade Center in New York City and one each into the Pentagon and a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. How do we remember the worst terrorist attack on American soil today? There are fewer memorials, fewer ceremonies, but even 13 years on, 9/11 is a day we should all remember, a day when we should all spend at least a few moments in quiet reflection. What will you be doing this day to mark 9/11? I think the heartbreak of September 11 - Americas grief not only over the loss of life but also the loss of our own innocence - has expanded us as people because it has tenderized our hearts. On a psychological level, the American people have matured as a result of that awful day.
