September 13, 2013 Varsity Soccer Calvary Cougars vs Rockwell Chargers Friday the Cougars traveled to Rockwell, NC to play the Chargers. The Cougars started the game off with explosive speed and precision passing against Rockwell. The first goal was scored by Ben Vernon for the Cougars wih an assist from Caleb Salter. This first goal came after many attempts on goal by the Cougars that were denied by the impenetrable Rockwell goalie Tyler Eagle who had some spectacular saves. Shortly after the first goal the second one came from Caleb Salter who was assisted by Ben Vernon. At the half the score was 2-0 Cougar lead. The cougars had taken nearly 20 shots on goal by halftime but only 2 went by the Rockwell Goalie. Second half, the Cougar midfield led by Andrew Kinzer and Evan Keeton, really picked up the pace and won nearly all the midfield ball possesions. Within a few minutes, the third goal was made by Alex lankford assisted by Caleb Salter. At 15 minutes into the second half the Rockwell forward, Micah Eagle, made a terrific shot and scored their first goal of the match. The Cougars finished the game ahead 6-1. Alex Lankford led scoring with 3 goals, Caleb Salter had 2 goals and 2 asist, Ben Vernon had 1 goal and 1 asist, Brad Pilaria had 1 assist. Cougars record is 5-1 so far this season.
