September 16, 2014 JAMIE SANTORA EARNS ENDORSEMENT OF OPERATING ENGINEERS UNION Adds to diverse coalition backing his campaign for State Representative in the 163rd District DREXEL HILL, PA – Jamie Santora announced today that he has earned the endorsement of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 542 which represents 5,800 working men and women and retirees in Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware. “Jamie Santora understands the importance of job creation and will stand up for working families in Pennsylvania,” said Robert Heenan, Business Manager of Local 542. “Jamie showed his support for union men and women – and taxpayers -- by introducing and championing approval of a responsible contractor ordinance in Upper Darby for public works projects. Santora is the type of leader we need in Harrisburg and will make a great State Representative.” “I appreciate the support of Operating Engineers Local 542 and their endorsement of my campaign. I will be an independent voice in Harrisburg for local residents, serving as a fiscal watchdog, working to increase funding for education, and addressing the growing burden of property taxes,” said Santora. “The diverse backing of labor unions, business organizations, nurses, police, and firefighters underscores my commitment to work in a bipartisan, commonsense manner. It’s time to set aside partisan differences and work together to address issues like job creation, public safety, and revitalizing our communities.” Members of Operating Engineers Local 542 are a blend of heavy equipment operators in the building and construction industry, as well as individuals employed at quarries, landfills, equipment dealers, shipyards, breweries, manufacturers, airports, bridges, and public works. Operating Engineers Local 542 joins a growing list of unions who have endorsed Santora’s campaign, including the Delaware County Committee of the Philadelphia Building and Construction Trades, the Pennsylvania Association of State Nurses and Allied Professionals (PASNAP), the Delaware County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 27, the Pennsylvania Professional Fire Fighters Association, and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 654. Santora has also earned the endorsement of the the Delaware County Police Chiefs Association and the Southeastern Pennsylvania Chambers of Commerce (SEPAC), which includes the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce and Main Line Chamber. Santora is a small businessman who has worked in the real estate business for the past 16 years. Santora currently serves as a member of Upper Township Council and he and his wife Amy are long-time residents of Drexel Hill. A graduate of Cardinal O’Hara High School and Cabrini College, Santora is active with a number of local non-profit organizations, including UNICO, a charitable organization of Italian-American business leaders; The National Multiple Sclerosis Society; Time for Teens, which supports at risk youth in the community; and the Faith in the Future Foundation, which helped to save the parochial high schools of Monsignor Bonner and Archbishop Prendergast from closure.
