Good housekeeping isn’t the result of cleaning up once a week or even once a day. It’s the result of keeping clean all the time. Housekeeping is a chore for everyone. Consistent basic maintenance is always less stressful when you are proactive. Regular cleaning along with basic maintenance of your household appliances will keep your apartment in good condition. Here are some tips to make cleaning apartment home easier: Clean as you go, rather than waiting until the end of the day or week. Light cleaning of counter tops, kitchen and bathroom sinks and bathtubs daily, reduce the need for heavy cleaning. Prevent build up of mildew by using an after-shower spray daily. Clean your kitchen sink with warm soapy water or all purpose cleaner to prevent food and hard water from building up and ossifying. Mop and/or vacuum floors weekly to keep from dirt building up. Keep hallways, stairs, and high traffic areas free from clutter as to prevent tripping hazards. Remove garbage frequently. Just as important as keeping your apartment clean is keeping your apartment’s appliances and electronics in good working order. Here are some tips for appliances and electronics: Bundle cords, cables and wires when not in use in order to prevent possible fires. If your home has a washer and dryer, be sure to empty the lint trapper in the dryer after every load of laundry. This will keep the dryer working efficiently, and it will keep it from overheating. Report any maintenance concerns to management immediately.
