September 2014 The Universe must have heard our fervent prayer for a separate and available space to concentrate on training and rehabilitating Lady and Tramp because after fostering options ran out, quite very suddenly, the space next door was offered to them quite unexpectedly. How wonderful and strange, we think. So we went in armed with DIY knowledge gleaned-off YouTube, plaster, cleaning equipment, cement, paints, spatulas and brushes to create a zen-like atmosphere for the sweet couple. It took two weeks of hardwork before the kennel was finally ready for its new occupants. We were quite sorry to have to separate Lady and Tramp from the cheer and comfort of their first kennel mates with a fence, however looking at the long-term, it would ultimately enable us to execute training sessions with relatively less physical distractions. Lady and Tramp did constantly run to the separating fence to try to get back to their old kennel, while their previous kennel mates stared-on, bewildered at the new arrangements. We also decided to implement a strict visitor protocol because of the mystery meals that the dogs receive at random in the kennels by overly sympathetic souls. It is necessary to understand that some of the dogs are food aggressive and fatal fighting have broken out in kennels due to unsupervised feeding by visitors, and severe medical issues have emerged over the dogs ingestion of improper food. It is important for kennel visitors to note that the dogs are all fed daily and treats are given when training is conducted or when the kennel owners are present. These shelter dogs crave interaction, walks and mental stimulation more than they require arbitrary tokens of sympathy and it would be more helpful to offer those services instead. Due to random feedings and similar incidents, we have a CCTV that monitors the kennel and have a coded lock on the front gate - drama much? :) To a brighter future, Lady & Tramp. May we sooner understand each other and come to truce, four-legged animal to two-legged animal.
