September 20th: Children’s Conference Call with Dr. Ken Duckworth Save the Date: September 20, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. EST Topic: School-Linked Mental Health Services Dr. Glenace Edwall and Dr. Mark Sander will discuss school-linked mental health programs in Minnesota and how these services have been effective in linking schools and communities to mental health resources. Their presentation will include the positive outcomes of the program as well as steps to take to bring this program to other communities. Mark Sander, Psy.D., LP is a Senior Clinical Psychologist for Hennepin County and the Mental Health Coordinator for Hennepin County and the Minneapolis Public Schools. In that role, he coordinates the Minneapolis Expanded School Mental Health Program and conducts research and evaluation projects on the program and provides technical assistance to the Hennepin County School Mental Health Initiative. Dr. Sander is a member of the Advisory Board for the Center for School Mental Health at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and a co-facilitator for the Quality and Evidence Based Practice Group in the National Community of Practice on Collaborative School Behavioral Health. Dr. Sander has published several journal articles and book chapters on school mental health and has presented on school mental health at local, state and national conference. Dr. Sander also has a private practice in Minnetonka, MN. Glenace Edwall, Ph.D., Psy.D., has been Director of the Children’s Mental Health Division at the Minnesota Department of Human Services since May, 2000. In this capacity, she is responsible for oversight of the state’s county-administered children’s mental health service system, for technical assistance and support to the state’s 95 children’s mental health and family service collaboratives, and for the policy component of the state’s children’s mental health benefits provided through Medicaid. Dr. Edwall has edited two books and authored dozens of professional papers. Dr. Edwall is immediate past chair of the Children, Youth and Families Division of the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors, and serves as treasurer of the board of directors of the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology. She was recently presented with the Diversity Leadership Award by the Minnesota Psychological Association.
