September 25, 2014 Press Release Press Release Press Release Rising Sun, Maryland On Thursday, September 25, 2014 at approx. 1000 hours Officer of the Rising Sun Police Department along with the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office and the Maryland State Police responded to the Martin’s Store located at 24 Rising Sun Towne Center Drive Rising Sun, Maryland 21911, for a reported Armed Robbery in the parking lot. During the initial assessment and investigation, Sheriff’s Deputies, Troopers and RSPD Officers learned that the assailant approached the victim in the parking lot as the victim was exiting her vehicle. The assailant insinuated that she had a weapon and demanded the victim’s purse. The victim refused and the assailant forcibly ripped the purse from her hands. Officers were able to develop a suspect vehicle with registration plate, and suspect description. A broadcast of the information was provided to area patrol units. At approximately 1056 hours, a Maryland State Police Trooper found the vehicle as it was travelling along Ebenezer Church Road in Rising Sun. The vehicle was subsequently stopped and the operator was found to match the description of the assailant. The victim, an (85) eighty-five year old female received minor lacerations in the incident. The victim subsequently identified the vehicle’s operator as her assailant. Arrested was Ashley Nicole Blakeley, age 27, of the 500 block of Joseph Biggs Highway Rising Sun, Maryland 21911 Blakeley was charged with: Armed Robbery Robbery Theft under $1000 Blakeley is currently being held at Cecil County Detention Center $100,000 Bond
