September 26th Day 1 I Can Statement: I can use my understanding of foundations, support, and balance to achieve vertical height using other building materials. Today there was a lot of activity taking place in the STEM classroom. Second through fourth grade started the day taking a Shapes quiz using the web-based site: Kahoot. We then quickly transitioned to a rotational day of building with Goobi Magnets (3rd-4th) and Magnet Tiles (2nd grade). This structures were measured to the nearest inch using yard sticks and recorded on a bar graph. The students also practiced building structures with The Tower app. First graders, as well as, Kindergartners worked through their rotations of building with Magnet Tiles (Kindergarten also used Bristle Blocks) and playing The Tower app. The yard sticks were accessible and many of the students were eager to measure their structures.
