September 28. Fishing on Lake of the Woods at Wheelers Point Resort has remained very strong this early fall. We had 6 charters out yesterday, and all had good days with several big fish and a couple of overs to go with their take homes. It was a balmy 85 degrees yesterday with minimal breezes, creating a beautiful late September day. We are mostly jig fishing now, with the fish moving closer and closer to the river. There are lots of fish within 4 to 5 miles from the gap, and most boats are only going out to 28 feet of water or so. Bright colored jigs and frozen shiners are the ticket now.
