September 7th 2014 - Day four of my 365 days of gratitude I am grateful: 1. For the time I spent on active duty in the Navy. When I first received my orders, I accepted that I would have to go and was prepared to go to Vietnam, but can honestly say I was relieved when my orders were changed to go to the ship in September 1974 (Forty years ago this month).......... 2. For finishing up my twenty years of Naval service, for which I will begin to receive retired pay and benefits in January 2015......... 3. For the opportunity to complete my Bachelors degree before I turn sixty, even though it no longer will be of benefit in the working world.......... 4. For family and friends who have been supportive over this last year and a half and helping me drag my ass out of this depression I had slumped into when I lost my job........... 5. Oh and did I mention my dogs.....I am grateful for my Basenjis (all four of them) and the Schipperke who give me pet therapy every day..........They say if I pet them they will feel better......and so will I......... I need to add one for today..... 6. I am grateful for being a part of many years of a top notch COED softball team which traveled all over the country for national tournaments.....I played ball with many good people and had the honor to play with Julie Lapadat who just succumbed to cancer. may you rest in peace my friend.......
