September 7th, 2014 Weather Highlight(s): Weak thermal trough - TopicsExpress

September 7th, 2014 Weather Highlight(s): Weak thermal trough located along the west slopes of the Cascades this morning will move east of the Cascades by afternoon. Meanwhile an upper level trough from off the Pacific will start to settle in over the area later today moving across the region Monday. This will result in a marine push with windy west wind conditions in central WA/OR on Monday. The trough will give a slight chance for an isolated thunderstorm in southern Oregon later today and Monday. A return to offshore flow is expected again starting Wednesday. Fire Potential: Elevated, but less than critical, burning conditions expected again on fires in the south Oregon Cascades with dry and somewhat unstable conditions. The burn environment should begin to moderate Monday with a return to a cooler and moister onshore flow. At the same time the windier conditions will elevate the burn environment east of the Cascades on Monday with moderately strong west winds expected. IA will remain light with no significant lightning expected. Westside burning conditions will begin to elevate again for the second part of the week with the return of the thermal trough west of the Cascades. T.
