September 8, 2014 Dear Friend, During the August district - TopicsExpress

September 8, 2014 Dear Friend, During the August district work period, I held a number of townhall meetings to hear from you on the important issues facing our nation. From St. Joseph to Hannibal, and everywhere in between, the concerns raised were largely the same – the federal government is spending too much, regulating too much, and stifling economic growth. The federal government is too big and spends too much of your hard earned money. President Obama and Liberals in Washington think more taxes are the solution to finance their big government agenda. I have long held the view that the government has a spending problem, not a revenue problem. The House has done its part to rein in the out of control spending by passing targeted legislation that funds our government, while cutting wasteful programs. The Senate, unfortunately, failed to fulfill their duty of responsibly overseeing our nation’s finances, by not passing a single spending measure. There is no clearer example of the federal government overregulating than what we have seen from the EPA. People across Missouri’s 6thDistrict are being affected by this agency’s liberal agenda, which they are imposing without the consent of your elected representatives in Congress. During a visit to the Platte-Clay Electric Co-op in Kearney, it was made clear that rising energy costs are a direct result of the EPA’s attack on clean coal energy. The unnecessary and often duplicative regulations being forced on hardworking Americans by this agency must be stopped, and that is why I have introduced the Stop the EPA Act. We must get our fiscal house in order and serve as a strong check and balance to an overreaching federal government, along with using a little commonsense in the rulemaking process, if we are to get this economy back on track. I look forward to seeing you at our next townhall meeting and hearing from you on these most important issues. Sincerely, Sam Graves
