September 9 -- “At the Break of Day” The Old Testament book of Job describes a man attacked by Satan. He lost just about everything but his life and he even lost his health. As he sat down in considerable misery he considered his plight and prophesied about a future place of rest saying, “There the wicked cease from turmoil, and there the weary are at rest. Captives also enjoy their ease; they no longer hear the slave driver’s shout. The small and the great are there, and the slave is freed from his master.” [Job 3:17-19] Revelation 21:4 also gives the Christian hope for eternity, “He (God) will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” God, when we are discouraged and in despair, remind us that Your promises are true and will be fulfilled in Your time.
