September 9: To protect and serve. We see those words on the side - TopicsExpress

September 9: To protect and serve. We see those words on the side of police cars from coast to coast. From the smallest of departments to the largest of operations in the most populated cities in the nation, we are protected by those who serve. They investigate to solve previous crimes and to prevent ones in the future. They are there for us, right? As technology has advanced, there even are ways to reach them more quickly than ever. Just dial 911. September 9, 1919, the police force of Boston, Massachusetts went on strike after debates about everything from working conditions to what was expected of a modern-day police force in the early 20th Century. Disputing how to handle certain things around those debates, Boston law enforcement walked off the job. Criminals took advantage of the situation before the military was called in to keep order. Satan often takes advantage of situations when we do not utilize the protection offered to us by Jesus Christ. One of the biggest mistakes we can make is to try to go things alone, especially when we are most vulnerable – when we need to dial 911. Have you ever found yourself in dire straits, needing the service of protection, yet, whether out of pride or fear or stubbornness, failed to ask? Relying on Jesus, always, but especially in critical times, is vital. Immerse yourself in the Holy Word, the scriptural 911. If we never turn our backs on Him, He always will be there to protect and serve us. “Keep me as the apple of your eye; hid me in the shadow of your wings from the wicked who assail me, from my mortal enemies who surround me.” (Psalms 17:8-9)
