September is here, and I suppose its time to go public with the big news. As of mid-October/November 1st (depending on when I find someone to take over my portion of the apartment), I will no longer be a resident of Brooklyn. Or New York, period. After 10 tumultuous years, its time to say au revoir to high rents, unpaid debts, fleeting friendships, shut-in depression, littered streets, broken plans, unfinished projects, and feeling like Im almost there but never quite reaching it. Im on the brink of losing touch with the parts of me that made me proud to be me, and Ive been feeling hollowed out. So Ive decided to take a risk and wonderful opportunity to put the hope back into my middle name, and Im moving away to new (but not unfamiliar) territory in Atlanta, GA. There, I will be closer to the positivity, support, and joy that I need in my life. I want and need that hope and love of my life back. So off to Hotlanta, I will soon go. But before that happens, a small backyard BBQ with my NYC counterparts shall be my last big apple hurrah. New York: Its been swell, but Im tired of your smell.
