Sequel to Jurassic Park to film in New Orleans Updated: Feb 06, 2014 8:12 AM CST NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Universal Pictures long-awaited Jurassic Park sequel, Jurassic World, will shoot in New Orleans for 11 weeks starting June 2. The film is the fourth in the Jurassic Park franchise and will be executive-produced by Steven Spielberg, who directed the 1993 first installment, based on the book by Michael Crichton. The latest production update from the Louisiana Film Office released Wednesday means the New Orleans area has landed its second high-profile sequel in just a few weeks. Terminator 5 was confirmed in mid-January to be bringing actor Arnold Schwarzenegger to town for an extended shoot. Filming on that Paramount-backed project is expected to last from April 21 to Aug. 1, reports The Times-Picayune. Other major projects on the horizon for the New Orleans area include Warner Bros. Will Ferrell comedy Get Hard, set to start filming March 17; and Relativity Medias Nicholas Sparks-penned drama The Best of Me, starring James Marsden and set to start March 6. Twentieth Century Foxs Fantastic Four reboot is expected to shoot in Baton Rouge starting March 24.
