Sequel to our resolve to monitor individual, group, or government - TopicsExpress

Sequel to our resolve to monitor individual, group, or government activities aimed at uplifting the socioeconomic wellbeing of our people, we followed meticulously the recently concluded free eye examination and treatment provided for the people of Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State by Sunny Ofili foundation. We have it on good record that at the end of the exercise, a total population of 3,651 eye patients received free treatment. Broken down further, 69 medicated glasses were dispensed at Issele Azagba, 155 at Issele Uku, 67 at Idumuje Unor, 70 at Onich Uku, 58 at Obomkpa and 49 at Ukwunzu. Also, 3896 tubes of eye drop were dispensed generally. There cant be accurate number of tablets dispensed because it was used in large quantity. Again, 400 cases of full blown cataract was discovered while 284 cases of advanced glaucoma was equally discovered. We would like to add here that our reasoning is that the crowd turn up experienced at each designated centre of the exercise is an outright expression of the rate of illness in our various communities. Second, it demonstrates the high level of poverty the people had to contend with, living with such deadly disease like glaucoma. This, definitely is not dividend of democracy. Therefore, we call on government at both local and State levels to redouble their efforts in the provision of adequate health care for the people living in the State. Meanwhile, we salute the good vision of Mr Sunny Ofili in providing free eye examination and treatment to the people of his Local Government, through his Foundation, while calling on other philanthropic individuals, groups or organizations to emulate his kind gesture towards the poor and the downtrodden in particular living with different types of diseases in our communities as a result of financial inadequacy to take care of themselves.
