Serendipity ... A small step toward immortality.... Last Friday, I took my afternoon walk down to the Mesa Community Farmers Market and the Mesa Arts Center to check out the Sparks Creative Festival. For some reason I took a photo of the Center as I walked across Main Street. At the event, a photographer asked me if I wanted to volunteer for about 15 minutes because he wanted take my picture. I said yes. Then I found out that I have a very, very good chance that my portrait will be used in this approx 70 foot high sculpture that will be in front of the Mesa Art Center Light Rail Stop to be installed next year, right where I took the photo an hour before. I called my daughter and she and her husband came down that evening and were the last ones that had their photos taken because the photographer asked them to help cleanup. So... there is a chance that all of the Leesleys and the Lessings portraits will be used on this sculpture. Here is the artists rendering.
