Sergeant says : Re: free education for tertiary institutions Before I tell you my stand , I shall explain my points first. 1.) Primary and secondary education are universal, and its a fundamental absolute right. Means if you fail your UPSR or PMR , you are allowed to further your studies. 2.) Tertiary education are not universal , because it comes with a condition , you must first pass your pre - university like STPM , Diploma or A level. Thus , its a qualified right with conditions. It also means that not all citizens are allowed to further your studies. 3.) Education , is the best method to mend the quality of your life in general , despite some odds , most with tertiary education starts off their life easier than those who doesnt have the qualification. 4.) Free education for tertiary , is not for all citizens , but those who are qualified. In Malaysia , about 1/3 of secondary education graduate doesnt proceed to tertiary education 5.) Free education will allow those who qualified to gain admission to tertiary institution for a care - free way to improve their quality of life 6.) Such an offer , were build on the expenses of all citizen , by national resources. 7.) Money paid by tax payer , national resources which belongs to everyone , including those who werent qualified for tertiary education, will be dedicated to these qualified people to improve their quality of life. 8.)it is a double unfair for the citizens , to spare the national wealth for these bunch of qualified people , to pay tax for them , so for them to love better than those unqualified people. What sort of fairness is this ? 9.) Nonetheless , a progressive nation needs more qualified human resources from her citizen. Hence , the best way , the fairest way is , give the best convenient for these qualified students, I. E. A study loan. 10.) They will have to pay back the loan which funded their tertiary education which generally grant them a better quality of life compare to those who doesnt. Its their own effort , not at the detriment of other people. At the same time , these elite group , educated people will bring forward the nation progression. 11.) The loan , should not be a conventional loan , it must be convenient , less interest compare to the market (even that , is unfair towards those unqualified students) . That s the break off point between fairness towards the qualified and unqualified one. 12.) Isnt this what are we doing now ? Dissenting views are most welcomed
