Sergio Maravilla Martinez. WILL HE EVER STEP BACK AGAIN INTO THE RING? Sergio Martinez had tests with his doctors last month to show whether his severe long-term knee injuries can handle boxing if he decides to carry on with the sport he has dominated for so long. Martinez last fight was in June 2014 when he defended his WBC, Ring and Lineal titles against Miguel Cotto at Madison Square Garden, New York. Cotto came out sharp and Martinez wasn’t looking his self in the ring as Cotto put Martinez down three times in the first round and the fight looked like it wasn’t going to last more than a few more rounds. Martinez managed to recover and take the fight into the championship rounds before Martinez trainer decided he wasn’t going to win the fight and had nothing left to go for the knock-out on Cotto. ENJOY IT ;) [ITALIANO] Sergio Maravilla Martinez Dopo la pesantissima sconfitta contro #MiguelCotto, in cui perse la cintura #WBC dei medi, tutti ci siamo chiesti se quella fosse stata lultima volta in cui avremmo visto il campione argentino calcare il ring. Quel 7 Giugno di questanno al Madison Square Garden, #NewYork, Cotto spedì Martinez al tappeto per ben tre volte e successivamente fu subito evidente che il match non sarebbe durato ancora per molto. Ma da grande campione quale è, Martinez riuscì a rialzarsi tutte le volte e portare il match fino al decimo round, prima che il suo allenatore decidesse di ritirarlo dallincontro, evitandogli altre inutili punizioni e considerando che Martinez ormai non poteva più vincere il match se non per K.O, cosa che sembrava molto improbabile. Attualmente Sergio sta riflettendo e decidendo cosa fare; se continuare oppure fermarsi. Lui di certo vorrebbe continuare ma questo dipende da altri fattori. Mese scorso Sergio ha voluto fare dei test medici sulla sua condizione fisica, sui suoi infortuni e sulla condizione del ginocchio infortunato, ciò che gli dà più problemi in assoluto. Da questi test, i medici sapranno dirgli cosa è giusto fare. Per ora non ci sono risposte ufficiali in merito. Aspetteremo e vedremo. Sinceramente penso che #SergioMartinez farebbe bene ad appendere i guantoni al chiodo. Ormai ha una certa età, ha vinto tutto, ha dimostrato tutto il suo valore, ha guadagnato tanti soldi e ha il RISPETTO e lAMORE di quasi tutti gli appassionati di pugilato in giro per il mondo. Dunque, non deve più dimostrare nulla a nessuno. Dispiacerebbe molto vederlo fare brutte figure sul ring, causa problemi fisici.
