Serious lesson. If somebody tells a story of how they were screwed over by someone else, it might be wise to ask yourself a couple of questions before you become another stupid asshole. 1: Why are they telling you this? To what purpose is the telling of the story meant to achieve? Are they playing you to agree with them and deride the other person? Are you a tool of revenge? 2: How complete are the facts? I rarely hear the whole story from one side of the conversation. Are you willing to take the persons account at face value? What preceded the final result? How complete is your knowledge of the facts leading up to the result? I have been guilty of taking on the flag of righteousness to defend the downtrodden only to discover the downtrodden were not nice people and the result was inevitable. Dont be a gossip. Dont be judgemental. Mostly, dont be fooled by half truths and misdirection. You may find yourself without righteous friends and surrounded by mean spirited people of which you are now one. Just a hard earned lesson. Grandpa Beaver would be proud to know I learned it.
