Serious question: How do you age gracefully? Thirty has not - TopicsExpress

Serious question: How do you age gracefully? Thirty has not brought any grey hairs yet, but I have started to develop brackets around my mouth. My relaxed facial expression is a slight frown so I have been making a conscious effort to keep a slight smile on my face from morning to night so I develop happy brackets rather than frowning ones. I have fine lines on my forehead now and so I try not to raise my eyebrows. I press two fingers between my brows when I feel the urge to scowl (this makes people laugh, as well they should). I am developing slight wrinkles beneath my eyes that are really unavoidable based on extended periods of insomnia, but the only signs of age I dont mind are the crows feet that appear when I smile (I just wish they didnt attach themselves to the insomnia bags) because they show I have been happy. Clearly, I am not gracefully accepting the aging process. It is a lifelong habit to dissect the parts of me I do not like and a few years being told otherwise do not magically erase a lifetime of being told I am unattractive (through actions and words - my ex husband once told me that I was not an attractive woman but he was attracted to me anyway). I am sensitive about my appearance, as are most women and many men, I know. How do you make peace with the changes in your face and figure (hello, gravity) and just focus on enjoying the wisdom and experience age brings?
