Serious rant coming on!!!!. Penny is a Westie and they are well known for yapping. We had the girls for 5 days when the neighbour from the back of our garden came round to complain about her yapping. His son works nights. I was really apologetic about that and said as were surrounded by houses with dogs, she got carried away. Told him we were working on it and were using a water spray to calm her down. Explained their background but he just said Penny incited all our neighbouring dogs to bark. She had been here 5 days and my next door neighbours dog barks all the time and has done for 7 years. Tonight I get a letter from said neighbour quoting Environmental Protection Act 1990 Statutory Dog Nuisance-Dog Barking. Seriously!!! He even said I have to remedy it or a complaint to the Council Noise Team will be made. We were away last weekend so no noise, have kept Penny under control all this week and told Dave how good she had been each night when he came in from work. I told the neighbour it was a young Westie and he said he had one that yapped for 15 years until she went deaf. That was when she stopped yapping. Still didnt understand the situation and still told me to do something about it. Penny is just young and excited but I am completely aware that people dont like dogs yapping. He got 4 of his neighbours to sign, some so far down the road with detached houses, they wouldnt even hear. We will be taking Penny and Candy to meet up with these neighbours in the morning. Am so mad about this that I cant judge what my mood will be, need to be strong and forthright and not cry. Believe me Penny is not a bad yapper at all. Sorry, rant over! xxx
