Serious thought: according to the Bible, Earth was created in 7 days. However, also according to the Bible, a day is like a thousand years to The Lord, and a thousand years is like a day (2 Peter 3:8). We have based our lives around the idea of 7 days in a week, rest on the 7th day, etc. However, if you think about it, this could have easily been a 7 thousand years event (or however long, because obviously time is worth very little in this perspective) and weve been looking at this event as a literal 7 days, 168 hours. Have you ever thought that He rested simply because what he was working on was finished? We Americans have definitely taken a liking to leisure time, and accomplish very little (just talking about the average). What if the point was that when we are finished here (as in pass on into the next stage of our existence when our physical body dies) THEN we will get rest. Why is it that we focus so much more on the short term and not enough on the long term? Think about it.
