Seriously, Please watch this! This is probably the most stereotyped group of people ever in America. So many pre-conceived ideas that all are alchies or druggies. People do not always choose this to happen. It has happened to friends of mine unexpectedly. The state of being homeless for some seems like no big deal. Yet what they face daily is often considered, an emergency! So much they are restricted from, needing a bathroom can be emergent. Leaving Santa Cruz once we had snacks left over. A guy had asked us for change. What we did do was take him a yogurt, couple bags of opened chips, a stack of crackers and a water. As we continued around the city we saw him go show a friend what he had, and they walked away. About a half hour later we saw him on a bench with 3 other homeless persons so they could all share!
