Seriously, folks. Seriously. Winter happens in about 65% of the US. Get over it. :-) I will take abundant water, abundant fresh, local produce and meat, ALL of the Great Lakes recreational opportunities, trails through National Forests, etc. over perfect, sunny, hot all of the time weather. By the way: we moved to INDIANA from Michigan. Guess what: we have the same amenities! The Great Lakes region is one of about three totally self-sustainable environments in the entire world. (I read and article about this a few months back. I wish I could share the source, as I have slept since then.) The downside? We also have a micro-climate created by said Great Lakes that gives us (literally) some of the strangest weather in the world. (According to a Weather Channel meteorologist.) Not to mention a low cost of living. The median selling price for an average home in my city is $110,569.
