Seriously have some loving envy towards those who got to go to Black students conference 2014 ( #nusbsc14 ), I remember arriving uncertain and unsure to a smile and handshake from Kanja Sesay years ago before a weekend I still remember to this day, where I met so many folk I stay in contact with and respect to today... So Malia Bouattia was elected NUS black students officer, Zekarias Negussue was elected as black rep on NEC, Shakira Sweet Ashok Kumar Adam Cooper Areeb Ul El Zafar Maahwish Mirza Sam Mujunga Shabina Raja Rayhan Uddin Samayya Ood-Sigma Afzal were elected onto the committee... BDS against the Israeli occupation was passed unanimously with no speeches against and rightly described as settler colonialism and our own Malaka Mohammed won student activist of the year and our Abdullah Geelah won black officer of the year... further shout outs to Rochelle Owusu- Antwi for winning committee member of the year, Piers Telemacque for campaign of the year and @areeb and kings for winning the international peace and justice award... this snapshot of some of the new committee and some of the awards winners should be expressive of the talent in the black students campaign, now weve got to as Zek might say ORGANISE ORGANISE ORGANISE Credit needs to be given to Aaron Kiely for enduring all manner of attack and attempts to sideline him as he articulated the causes of anti-racism, anti-fascism and internationalism, credit is also due to Jason U Jackson who on another year I would have been proud to support as BSO... #studentblackleft #forgetteambradfordallaboutsheffieldreally
