Sermon 11/3/13 Text: Luke 22:24-38, 47-54 Moving with Confidence 2 Tim 1:12 For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day. The Multifaceted God John 14:8 Philip said to Him, Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us. 9 Jesus said to him, Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, Show us the Father? God is not “Controlling” Luke 22:31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. 32 But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren. Everybody Involved Matt 26:31 Then Jesus said to them, All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written: I will strike the Shepherd, And the sheep of the flock will be scattered. 32 But after I have been raised, I will go before you to Galilee. Who am I? Luke 22:33 But he said to Him, Lord, I am ready to go with You, both to prison and to death. 34 Then He said, I tell you, Peter, the rooster shall not crow this day before you will deny three times that you know Me. Changing Times..Changing Strengths Luke 22:35 And He said to them, When I sent you without money bag, knapsack, and sandals, did you lack anything? So they said, Nothing. 36 Then He said to them, But now, he who has a money bag, let him take it, and likewise a knapsack; and he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one. The Sword? Luke 22:49 When those around Him saw what was going to happen, they said to Him, Lord, shall we strike with the sword? 50 And one of them struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear. 51 But Jesus answered and said, Permit even this. And He touched his ear and healed him. The Power of “The Comeback” Luke 22:32 But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren. The Glory Revealed 2 Cor 4:5 For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus sake. 6 For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 7 Cast Down but Unconquered But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us
