Sermon Notes – September 21, 2014 II Corinthians 5:17-21 “Embracing Your New Life” - Part II Paul wrote the 2 Corinthians to re-establish the Corinthian Church on a solid foundation of Christ, the one whose death reconciles us to God. Undeniably, when we become Christians we begin to participate in the “New Creation”, “the old has gone, the new has come.” But this newness, however real and pervasive, does not completely obliterate our human weakness. We still groan in our flesh, “longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling” yet, paradoxically, we experience the power of Christ in the midst of our frailty. Within our fleshly “Jar of Clay,” God gives us “the light of the knowledge of the glory of God” in the face of Christ.” Recommendation One: Before you can embrace your new life, you must release your spirit to Christ. Recommendation Two: Only the Spirit of Christ can transform us into our new lives. Recommendation Three: Our eyes should be fixed on Christ who has reconciled us to God. youtu.be/2kQjgOuJll4
