Sermon Series: Give Up Sermon Title: Guaranteed Blessings Malachi 3:7-12 Tithing has little to do with your money, and everything to do with your heart. If theres going to be Guaranteed Blessings, there must be: I. Spiritual Restoration. Turn your heart back to God. A. Admit your rebellion. Peel back the layers of your heart to find a self-consumed person who lives for your own glory. B. Adjust your ritual. Repent first, return and repeat the things you used to do when you were close to God. II. Satisfactory Restitution. You dont set the standard, God sets the standard. A. Accept responsibility. There are three types of people: Committed - convinced and committed to giving 10 percent; Uncommitted (takers) - give sometimes when they feel, but not bring the whole thing; Uninformed - they just dont know. B. Affirm the requirement. God gives us the requirement in the Bible. He determines how much we should give (The first 10th of everything you earn, you return back to God and to the church.) You tithe to the place you are spiritually fed. III. Sustaining Realization. God will take care of you and work out everything you need. A. Acknowledge the rebuke. When youre disobedient, you cant claim guaranteed blessings. B. Anticipate reward. When you are faithful with the tithe, and you trust God, He will reward you.
