Sermon Title : Stephen the Martyr Bible : Acts 7:58~60 The names meaning of Stephen is a crown. In the Bible Stephen was a 1st. Martyr and one of seven deacons who were full of faith and of Holy Spirit. And also in Acts 6 shows Stephen is introduced to a deacon full of faith and of the Holy Spirit and in charpter 7 he was introduced with his famous lecture. And todays phrases were recorded of his last day the martyr. And Stephen was a great martyr who had been worked for Lords mission. He demonstrated(변증) the gospel before the violent Jude. How great courage and brave he had before the Jude! Stephen shouted against the Jude You stiff-necked people, with uncircumcised hearts and ears! You are just like your fathers; you always resist the Holy Spirit!(7:51) And you repent your sins and have a forgiveness from God! He demonstrated the Gospel with full Holy Spirit from the beginning to the end of his death consistently. When the Jude were stoning Stephen who blamed for their sins. At the very moment he looked up to the heaven and saw the glory of God. And Jesus standing at the right hand of God(7:55). Look, he said, I see heaven open and son of man standing at the right hand of God(7:56) Why did Jesus is standing at the right hand of God? The answer is that scene was Jesus aid for the Stephen a victorious and faithful servant. After that the Apostle Paul saw the Stephens the last and then he repented his persecution for the churches. Probably the scene of the stoning of Stephen to death had Paul repent for himself. The fact of the martyr of Stephen was a sign of churchs persecution, therefore, the early churches were received the Judes persecution continuously. But it was an opportunity for early churchesgrowing both of qualitatively and quantitively. God has growing His churches through the saints persecution. Amen. From Young Lee. Seoul Korea.
