Sermon title : The Heaven our ultimate purpose Bible : Matthew 11:12 From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it forceful men lay hold of it(침노하는자가 빼앗느니라) Original word is biajetai -enter forcibly, apply force(Lk.16:16). If interpret by middle tence for the original word biajetai, heaven can be open by itself forcibly. Therefore, in NIV the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing. Above saying are for the middle tense. On the other hand, the passive tense followed that biajetai could be understand according to the passage of Matthew. At that time Jesus said that the Baptist was in prison forcefully. And then the biajetai had better interpret in passive tense. KJV, NASB also interpret in passive tense, the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence From the days of John the Baptist until now John the Baptist was to jale because of proclaimed the kingdom of heaven. And then Jesus predicted for the suffering to disciples when Jesus dispatched disciples for the mission(10:17~25,28,38,39). In NIV and forceful men lay hold of it(Mt.11:12)(침노하는자는 빼앗느니라) Here, there are different interpretings according to understand for biajetai between the two interpretings. Firstly, in positive interpreting there are a brave man or take a firm attitude people as if the forceful discipleship rush for the heaven nearing at the hand. If we are in the positive interpreting, we can understand for Jesus saying that in Mt.8:22But Jesus told him, Follow me and let the dead bury their own deed. Whoever wants to follow Jesus he must cast away the job and family when Jesus calling. On the other hand, Hagner denied the positive interpretation and then the original word biajetai must be interpreted by negative. In according to the passages of Matthew, biajetai were men of violence(RSV) for exemple they were Herrod Antipas who killed John the Baptist and enemies for Jesus and phrases. Gundry said that Matthew was the book for the suffering communities. Therefore, Id like to say about my interpretation and sermon I preper to the positive interpretation for the word of biajetai as a brave man or a firm attitude people. 1. The believers who are following to the Heaven will take the Heaven. In Mt. 11:12 From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay holf of it(NIV)(침노하는자는 빼앗느니라) and forceful men lay hold of it The passage has me imagine thst the rushing army to take the catle. If the rushing solders were afraid of thier properties remained in their houses and families. They couldnt conquer the cattle. Heaven is same for us like cattle. Therefore, we must follow the heaven. In Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ live in me. The life live inthe body, I live by faith in the sonof God, who loved me and gave himself forme Even though the heaven open to the people but if we we give up following to heaven, the Heavens door could close for them. All the Christians, lets have a firm desire for Heaven. In Php.3:14 Press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus Lets have the faith of St.Paul and then have the Heaven not only in our mind but also in kingdom of Heaven after die. Amen. From Young Lee. Seoul Korea.
