Serpentine Falls has been a popular destination for enjoyment - TopicsExpress

Serpentine Falls has been a popular destination for enjoyment since Serpentine was gazetted as a town in 1893 dedicated to farming. I was dismayed listening to the staff suggesting the government wish to close Serpentine Falls to the public due to 14 deaths in 10 years and the cost of supervising the publicly owned National Park. The flow of water over the rock wall can be seen in 1932 unrestrained due to no dams having been constructed upstream yet. Serpentine Dam releases water daily due to an agreement with farmers downstream on the Serpentine River that they would always have a fresh water flow from the new dam hence keeping the falls with a reasonable flow over the face of the falls. I doubt anybody in Perth would agree with the officials suggestion and I trust the wonderful spot will be around for centuries to come for everybody to appreciate.
