Servant of God Father Andrej Tsikoto MIC 1891—1952 Andrej Tsikoto was born on December 5th 1891, in Belarus. He was graduated from the seminary in Vilno and then from the St. Petersburg Theological Academy. He was ordained as priest in 1914. He served in a parish, and then he was appointed as professor of the newly created theological seminary in the diocese of Minsk. In 1920 he joined the Congregation of Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary as a novice. After taking the vow he was sent to serve in USA. In 1923 he organized the cloister of the Congregation of Marian Fathers in Druya which was at that time part of Poland. Since 1925 he was the novice master. In 1933 he was elected as the General of the Congregation. In 1939 he was appointed as Apostolic Administrator for Catholics of Eastern rite at Harbin in Manchuria, for replacing Fr. Fabian Abrantovich, who was arrested in USSR. On 22nd December 1948 he was arrested by the Chinese communists, then sent to Russia and passed to NKVD. In 1949 in Chita he was sentenced to prison for 25 years and was forwarded to the prison camp near Tayshet. He died in the camp hospital as a consequence of the endured trials, on February 13th 1952. One of the witnesses recalled his own terrible mental state after the tortures, when he publicly denied the Lord and of the Church. The investigator organized a meeting between that priest [the witness] and Fr. Andrej, to show his improvement in the conducting of a case. When Fr. Tsikoto had heard the words of unbelief from the exhausted man, he uttered only one phrase: “Man, what are you saying, remember yourself”. The prayer rang as an answer: “I believe in One God...” Till the end of his life the priest considered, that this case was a miracle of recovery, after which any sufferings in the camps could frighten him and weaken his faith. The prayer for beatification of the Servant of God fr. Andrej Tsikoto O Lord Almighty, Your Son suffered on the Cross and died for the salvation of people. Imitating Him, Your Servant Fr. Andrej Tsikoto loved You from the bottom of his heart, served You faithfully during the persecutions and devoted his life to the Church. Make him known in the assembly of Your blessed, so that the example of his faithfulness and love would shine before the whole world. I pray to You through his intercession, hear my request ……………… through Christ our Lord. Amen.
