Services for Wayne C. Woods, 74 will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday at LeCompte Johnson Taylor Funeral Home. Bro. Andrew Messinger will officiate and burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors by the VFW Post 4075th. He was born in Belle Point, he worked forty-one years as a lab technician for the Transportation Cabinet, a member of Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars, a member of Graefenburg Christian Church, and he enjoyed deer hunting and working with his goats. Wayne proudly served his country in the Navy during the Cuban Crisis on the USS Newport News/Heavy Cruiser between 1961 and 1965. He died Friday at his residence after a lengthy illness. Survivors include his son; Richard “Ricky” Woods of Frankfort. He is preceded in death by his parents; Claude Richard and Alma Ruth Peavler Woods and his wife; Mary Alice Woods. Paul Kirk, Brent Monroe, Shelby Walker, Robert Paul, Danny Willard, and Gene Blair will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
