Session Jam Destroys the Academic Life of IU Students Academic activities at Islamic University in Kushtia are being hampered due to session jam in most of the departments of the institution, according to the students. Authorities has closed down the Islamic University, Kushtia till September 08, 2014 after a clash between Police and Chhatra League activists in the campus on August 24, 2014. The announcements came after an emergency syndicate meeting on August 25, 2014. Almost 4 to 6 months of session jam depending on the departments will be occurred. According to the sources, there are 22 departments and an institute at the Islamic University. Out of them, the students of 12 departments are facing session jam. Almost all of the departments have seven or eight batches in place of five. The departments of Bangla, English, Islamic History and Culture under Humanities and Social Science Faculty, Al Quran, Al-Hadith and Dawah and Islamic studies under Theology Faculty have seven batches. Management and Information System under Business Administration Faculty has seven batches while Accounting and Information System department under same faculty has six batches in place of five. Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science and Engineering departments under Applied Science and Technology Faculty have also seven batches. As a result, most of those departments already have over two years session jam.
