Setting aside whether or not this is actually true, I suppose $21 - TopicsExpress

Setting aside whether or not this is actually true, I suppose $21 an hour means the Danish monetary equivalent of $21 US, whatever that is, but Im not sure how that translates in the Danish economy. What interests me most about this is the implications for the compensation associated with other types of work in Denmark, e.g., if the average fast food worker is paid $21 an hour, what does a registered nurse earn? I support the notion that the minimum wage in America is too low and needs to be raised. Not only do we need to provide workers with few or no options other than low-paying jobs the ability to participate productively in the economy, we also need to recognize and incentivize the dignity of work in general. However - and this is a fairly big however - if all of a sudden McDonalds in America started paying its line workers $21 an hour, Id probably have to think long and hard about whether or not that seemed appropriate or even made sense. Anyone else share my misgivings?
