Settle NSCN-IMs crimes first: KIM urges PM IMPHAL, Nov 29 : Urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to sympathetically respect its unchanging and clear stance, the Kuki Inpi has once again reminded the PM to first settle the heinous crimes committed against the Kukis by the NSCN-IM before any kind of solution or agreement is reached with the Naga militant group. In an open memorandum to the Prime Minister on his maiden visit to the State after assuming office, the Kuki Inpi said that the crimes committed by the NSCN-IM regarding the killing of 905 Kukis, uprooting of 360 villages and rendering one lakh Kukis homeless should be settled first before any kind of agreement or solution be made by Indian Govt with NSCN-IM else it would be seen as a clear evidence of the Indian Govt using NSCN-IM to commit such heinous crimes against humanity. It also pointed out that during a meeting held on July 17, 2001 at Delhi, the BJP Govt led by Atal Behari Vajpayee gave verbal assurance to promptly take appropriate action through proper Court of law in the presence of the then Union Home Minister LK Advani and other dignitaries including Padmanabhaiah, the then Government interlocutor of the peace dialogue with the NSCN-IM. It quoted the then PM AB Vajpayee as saying, “I have never been told by either politicians or bureaucrats of these crimes. I will minutely investigate and take appropriate action for ushering in peace in the region.” Unfortunately, the BJP Govt was short-lived and no action could be initiated, the Kuki Inpi memorandum pointed out. The memorandum urged the PM to fulfil the promise of the previous BJP Govt and bring justice by settling the crimes committed by the NSCN-IM before making any sort of agreement with the Naga outfit. The Kuki Inpi also reportedly attached related several documents along with the memorandum in support of their assertion.
