Settled Love She loved him completely, With all of her - TopicsExpress

Settled Love She loved him completely, With all of her heart, Open arms and each of her charms, Hed look in her eyes, And promise to keep, Her safe from all the worlds harms, They kissed neath the moon, Woke daily to dine, On the spoils of his labors earned, While he was away, Shed pine through the days, For him twas her heart did yearn, Then it came to pass, The beautiful lass, Once knew a fully belly with child, She told him the news, But he was solemn and blue, His love for her faded a while, There then he left, Her standing alone, Eyes full of tears and deep woe, She stood there and cried, For deep down inside, The child he never would know, All the while far away, A man worked through his days, Yearning for a love of his own, Hands greasy and torn. Heart battered and worn, Dwelling each night all alone, Hed wake in the morn, Rising slowly from sleep, From his poor bed empty and cold, Shave gently away, The stubble and grey, Then face the world solemn and bold, Years came and went, Both having been spent, On lifes lessons and hardships that passed, Never to meet, For the paths at their feet, Now forbidden to cross at last, And so their lives ended, The mother alone, With her child through life did wander, And the hard working man, Who had a good heart, Never once to be a proud father, So sadly we see, Lifes lesson though cold, Harsh as it truly may seem, That the short lives we live, With false loves that we settle, Might hide our true loves meant to be. - DNH 07/2014
