Seven more parliamentarians have been axed from the cabinet as the clean up process in government continues. In a statement, the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Misheck Sibanda says President Robert Mugabe has relieved the seven of their duties and functions with immediate effect as it had become apparent that their conduct and performance were below the expected standard and outcome. They comprise Minister of State for Presidential Affairs Flora Bhuka. Minister of State in the Vice Presidents Office Sylvester Nguni. Deputy Minister of Health and Child Care Dr Paul Chimedza. Deputy Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Services Tongai Muzenda. Deputy Minister of Lands and Rural Resettlement, Tendai Savanhu. Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Petronella Kagonye. Deputy Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, Fortune Chasi. This brings to 15 the total number of legislators who have been fired from their cabinet and government posts, excluding Dr Joice Mujuru from the position of vice president, as it has been lately revealed that from the moment Joice Mujuru became a Vice President, she ceased to be a Member of Parliament, as far as the Zimbabwean constitution is concerned. Dr Sibanda says the dismissal of the ministers and deputy ministers has been carried out in terms of Section 108 Sub-section 1(a) of the constitution. Dr Mujuru and her group of supporters were dropped from the party after failing to secure central committee seats following their implication in a plot to illegally and unconstitutionally oust Mugabe from power. Analysts say the changes to the cabinet are now being effected to reflect the prevailing situation in the party. A fortnight ago, 91-year-old President Mugabe fired eight ministers, bringing the total number of fired ministers within two weeks to 15! List of ministers who were fired two weeks ago is as follows: W.K. Shamu, M.P. - Minister of ICT, Postal and Courier Services M.T.A. Mutezo, M.P.- Deputy Minister of Energy and Power Development S. Mudarikwa, M.P. - Minister of State for Mashonaland East Province F.D.C. Nhema, M.P. - Minister of Youth Development, Indigenisation and Empowerment Dr. O.N. Muchena, M.P. - Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development D.C. Mavhaire, Senator - Minister of Energy and Power Development N.T. Goche, M.P. - Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare D.N.E. Mutasa, M.P - Minister of Presidential Affairs. A fortnight ago, My Zimbabwe News reported that apart from Mujuru being thrown out, an Operation Murambatsvina-like purge would soon be extended to government institutions, among them, the Central Intelligence Organisation where deputy director general Daniel Tonde Nhepera is expected to be booted out. Nhepera allegedly worked closely with Mujuru and they reportedly come from the same rural areas. More changes are also envisaged in the CIO. Permanent secretaries, some of them who were deployed from the Presidents Office, but worked closely with Mujuru would be thrown out. Some of the permanent secretaries were accused of undermining the ministers they were working under to advance Mujurus cause. Heads would also roll in the Public Service Commission where its head Mariyiwanda Nzuwa was linked to the Mujuru faction. Several parastatal heads will also be fired, the sources said. A shakeup is also expected at the Zimbabwe Republic Police.
