Seven people have been killed after the Border Security Force fired at demonstrators protesting against the sacrilege of the holy Quran in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district. Police sources, who requested anonymity, say the Border Security Force personnel stormed into a Madrassah late Wednesday night where they beat up the cleric and tore pages of the holy Quran. This has sparked off protest demonstrations at a number of places in the district. Thousands of people have staged a sit in on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway, blocking traffic.
